WIP McCall’s 5525 a really cute trench coat!

Posted by: K. Elliott Couture on: March 26, 2009

okay so last week I just knew i was going to Jo’s to get me some Vogue patterns, to get there and find out that it wasn’t Vogue on sale it was McCall’s! ok, so being the pattern junkie that i am, i go with the flow and i set down and pick out my patterns….19 of them!

Hi my name is Trina and i am a bona fide pattern junkie! I not only create my own patterns, but i spend lots of hard earned money on Big 4 Patterns, International Pattern Books, Pattern Making Reference books, Pattern Creation Software, Pattern Alteration DVD/Videos/CDs/ e-books, you name it and i have probably had it, own it or want it in relation to patterns!

I have a serious problem. I finally have my fabric obsession under control and now this!

But anywho, I immediately picked out this pattern, as it is really cute, i had the perfect fabric in mind, the perfect lining and a little bit of time on my hands over the weekend, since i couldn’t attend my local meetings. that’s a whole other drama, that’s not even mine, messing up my weekend!

But so far this is what i have done…

my pictures look a little overexposed, because they are! lol i didn’t have a lot of time to fiddle with great pictures since i am not ready to formally review the pattern.

I still need to do some top stitching and add the buttons, which is going to take me some time as i am going to custom make my own buttons.

I am very excited, but unfortunately, my kiln was packed away and not everything i need was packed in the same box! and i have to order some backs for them once they are made, but this is a picture of a pendant that i made some time ago,

I am hoping to get buttons made very similar to these and i need 8 of them. so that will be a chore in itself!

but i think the final result will be just TDF!!

1 007 This is my trench, inside out so you can see that i really went all out this time. I generally don’t make lined jackets. no particular reason, I just haven’t had the occasion to since i have been migrating over to adult garments.

i just need to do some hand stitching and some pressing and I’ll be done. can’t wait to wear it, just not sure what to match it with! i used to have some hot pink boots, that would have went great with this, not sure if I’ll even still have them. I honestly haven’t worn a lot of "real shoes" since my little fella was born! over 3 yrs ago, time to go looking in that shoe closet!

in other news, the store is coming along, it’s seems like it will be forever before I can get in there completely, but there is just so much to get done and mostly by myself. DH has been in school, Friday will make 2 weeks and it just doesn’t make sense for me to drive all the way over to the store, work for a couple of hours and then have to head back to the other side of town. much more sensible to wait until Friday, when he is done, and then i can just spend more time per day over at the store! so hopefully this weekend, I can spend some major time over there! yeah

I think today, I will have some time to start a new sewing project, and i want to catch up on some blog reading, I haven’t checked in on Miss Celie’s Pants Blog in a while, she is a local sewist who is taking some pattern drafting classes here and blogging about it and since i wasn’t fortunate enough to take the class, I live it through our blog!
